⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Happiest 5 years and counting

"Have spent over 200 nights since first buying my Lunar Solo back in 2016. It has seen conditions to -20°C up to +38°C. Above the Arctic Circle into the deserts of Israel. Down from the Dead Sea up to the open Tundra. A great shelter for great adventures." - Andrei

Floppy difficult mess

I spent one long week in this thing… I spent ip to 45 min to an hour some days trying to figure out how to set it up without it sagging never got great results and I am a very experienced outdoors person- 30 years. I contacted their customer support and they were responsive… yet never got results like the ad despite the additional instructions. No offer to exhange or refund…just stuck. Will not use this tent again. Maybe mine’s not to standard. Really really disappointed and surprised to see the awards on this product. Shocking really. However, this is not what you wanna buy, there are plenty of options out there that are better than this one. I really really wanted to like this tent, but I cannot. I passionately and enthusiastically support small businesses- it pains me to write a negative review hence my delay in writing this review - but its the right thing to do.

Pretty good but if you can go heavier maybe do that

Got this for solo bikepacking/bike touring. Slept about 30 nights in it so far.
The good: the green color looks super cool and stealthy, pretty fast to pitch WELL once you get good at it, waterproofing is good, ofc very light and small. The bad: lots of condensation that I end up wiping my head on when I sit up, and feet in my sleeping bag, hard to pitch perfectly on the first go so it’s easy to get a saggy roof that exacerbates said condensation wiping, in heavy storms water can still splash in via the lower vents, no built in way to keep the rain fly flipped back. I’d take another pound or two for a tad more space but still pretty happy with this tent.

Not waterproof in heavy rain

I used this tent on two occasions. The first time was during fine weather, and the tent performed flawlessly. The second time was during three days of torrential rain in Algonquin Park, Ontario. The tent fly became saturated (wetted out) with moisture, and it literally rained inside the tent, soaking all my gear, including my clothes and sleeping bag. I also had a 15-year-old Integral Designs tarp set up on the same campsite, and it stayed bone dry underneath for three days. I've never experienced this kind of problem with MSR, Nemo or Marmot tents, which always stay dry in extreme conditions. Sadly, it looks like I'll have to retire my Lunar Solo and find something more reliable for solo outings.

Good price, good materials, tight on space

Light, good price, and well built. I like the full mesh side that gives you a really nice view to wake up to if it's a dry night and you can keep it open. Quick to pitch once you get the process down.

But the tent just doesn't pitch the way I need it to. I'm 6'1" and no matter what I try I don't have enough foot and headroom to fully stretch out without hitting the end. Might be ok for a shorter person. It was fine when it was dry but I went through a few stormy nights and I was constantly rubbing the sides and getting wet from the condensation. Pitched exactly like in the video and usually got it to look perfect from the outside, but it always ended up drooping a bit and I never woke up to enough headroom and foot room.

Spent a few days backpacking with a friend who had the Durston X Mid-1 and was extremely jealous. Just so much more headroom and livable space.
