The Silver Shadow Series provides a large reflective surface on top to deflect sunlight and a black underside to absorb wandering rays, allowing you to walk cooler and better protected. Its coating sheds water easily, eliminating the need to wear sweaty rain gear.

I fixed the umbrella to my pack shoulder strap with a couple velcro straps. The umbrella is great for protection from hail, rain and intense sunshine. I backpacked the Uinta Highline Trail in seven days with this umbrella.

I have had my umbrella for a few weeks now and I have loved using it. I am a dog walker and it’s been incredibly helpful in managing temperatures while out walking in the heat of the day. I also recently (today) got stranded in the airport during the Outage and it came incredibly in handy for shielding me from the bright lights while I attempted to sleep on airport chairs! It’s so lightweight and the perfect size for a carryon, I’ll be hard pressed to leave it home when I travel again!

I had to replace my old one right before a trip b/c I broke it. This new one is lighter and they are so nice for hiking in the sun. I always take it on all my trips. On this last trip we had a campsite in the sun and we tied 3 of these together to make a big shady area. We used them everyday while hiking, they drop the temp by at least 10 degrees. I rigged up a hands free system so I can still use my trekking poles. The only thing to be careful of is gusts of wind, have to face into the wind or grab the front of it. But overall I consider this an indispensable piece of gear, esp for warmer temps!!

I’ve used my personal Silver Shadow Carbon Trekking Umbrella on the CT in wind and rain and under hot July suns. It’s proven it’s worth there and on local hikes. I’ve given two others as gifts and their new owners love them. My umbrella is a standard part of my kit these days.

It’s so light that a friend was able to hold it without my hands free option the whole time trudging up a hot and very steep 3mile Southern California trail. She is going to buy one too and so are several people who saw us on the trail. We like the fact that we don’t have to wear hot and sweaty hats. Here’s a pic of my husband who ordered one too.
