ALEXIS "BLUE" LOOMIS

ALEXIS LOOMMISBetween the harsh landscapes of the Arizona desert, and the pine-covered hills of Maine, is where Alexis Loomis found her passion for all things outdoors. Between backpacking, trail running, day hiking, and rock-climbing, she discovered that not only is she passionate about outdoor sports, but the areas that they have taken her to. Wanting to protect the places her and others play in, she is now working on her degree in Biology, with a focus in human impact and sustainability. Pursuing a degree, while being employed full time, has turned her into the ultimate weekend warrior. You’ll most likely find her packing up her car Thursday night, getting ready to hit the road as soon as work and classes are over for the week.

Having moved to Arizona in January of 2018, she found the best way to get to know her new home, was to submerge herself in the rugged back country surrounding her. Between backpacking trips in the Mazatzal Wilderness, the Superstition Wilderness, and the Coconino National Forest, she logged over 2,000 miles. To kick off 2019, she spent seven days backpacking through the back country of the Grand Canyon. For the rest of 2019, she is hoping to complete her first thru-hike of 2019, which will be the Arizona Trail.
