Great ultra lightweight 1 person tent

I've used my Lunar Solo for about 25 nights over the last 2 years and strongly recommend it for those seeking a simple but capable ultralight tent.

    Reasons I like it:

    - Super easy to pitch and pack away. I can get this thing set up and packed away in less than 5 mins. It can be a little fiddly to set up the first once or twice, but you learn (and the Six Moons YouTube tutorial is really helpful).

    - Ultra lightweight, obviously. I use mine thru-hiking and bike packing, so I paired mine with the 5 section pole, so it fits in a tiny bag and weighs absolutely nothing.

    - Spacious design. It's got an impressive amount of internal space. I've even slept 2 top-to-bottom in an emergency (though definitely not recommended for normal use). In daily use it easily fits my hiking rucksack or bike bags inside the tent, and I still have the vestibule to store shoes, equipment, etc.

    - The color. I opted for the dark green version, and it's ideal for stealth camping, as it's very hard to spot in the woods.

Reasons I use other tents, at times:

    - The lunar doesn't create a very sealed environment. You can get it pretty tightly sealed to the ground if you pitch it right, but it's not great in very cold weather. That being said, I've used it down to -10°C a few times and survived.

    - You're also going to get a lot of condensation on the inside, but that's the reality for all single-walled tents. Bring a sponge!

    - It's not got taped seams, so there's a risk it lets water in. That said, I used…

Extremely Disappointed with Six Moon Designs – Defective Product and Horrible Customer Service

I purchased a Six Moon Designs tent and have had nothing but problems from the moment I received it. My experience has been a complete disappointment, not only due to the product issues but also because of the terrible customer service I’ve received.

    Major Issues with the Product:

    • Severe Condensation: Six Moon Designs claims their tents prevent moisture buildup, but the tent I received had extreme condensation. It got so bad that it mimicked a rainfall inside the tent, even though there was no rain outside. This was never mentioned in the product description, and it’s incredibly misleading. I ended up waking up soaked and freezing on multiple occasions.

    • Misleading Advertising: The product page clearly promised moisture prevention, but that was a complete lie. The condensation issue was so severe that I could barely use the tent in the conditions it was advertised for. If you’re looking for a tent that performs as advertised, look elsewhere. This one doesn’t deliver.

    • Poor Manufacturing Quality: The stitching on the tent was poorly done, and the seams began to unravel after just a few uses. The poles had sharp edges that damaged the guy lines, which then tore. It’s clear that Six Moon Designs cut corners on materials and quality control.

    Customer Service Nightmare:

    • No Refund After 2 Months: My frustration didn’t end with the faulty product. When I reached out to Six Moon Designs for a refund, I was met with delays, poor communication, and excuses. Despite agreeing…

    Great for the price

I am pretty stoked on this purchase! It was easy to put up and this is my first ever trekking pole tent. Downside is the condensation inside, holy moly! It also was a bit damaged when I received it, not a huge deal breaker but kind of a bummer. It is large and comfortable and does the job!

Perfect for Day Hikes or Long-Treks

I've owned the Lunar Solo now for a while and I absolutely love it. The ease of use, size, and weight combined make it the perfect choice even for non-UL campers.

Love it. Perfect for me and the pup.

I've had this tent for about a year now, and I adore it. Getting a good pitch takes some practice, sure, but I can now do it without a single stake on uneven ground using just rocks when conditions dictate—and that particular setup got through a night of rain and howling wind without issue. I've been through a few long high mountain thunderstorms with this tent now, and as long as you do a good job sealing the seams, it's great. Some condensation, especially when it's actively raining, but the excellent airflow in the tent keeps things dry a majority of the time, and the bathtub bottom works like a charm.

Very sturdy. Plenty of room for my long/large sleeping pad, a 60 lb dog to have her own bed, and all my stuff inside the tent, and it's got a massive vestibule. I highly recommend guy-lining the head and foot areas up and out when you can.

I use the single carbon fiber pole from SMD, not a trekking pole. I very rarely use a footprint of any kind, and the floor is holding up great. I had to replace the line on the tent recently because it was getting beat up and breaking due to using sharp rocks as anchor points. That was quick and easy to do.

Overall, a great tent that I expect to see many more years and trail miles.
