James grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia where his love for the outdoors grew during family camping trips in the Coast Mountains. When not in the mountains, he pursued smaller adventures within city limits in the form of running and found early success in competitive track and field, cross-country, and road races.
After finishing his education in civil engineering, James began merging his two favourite activities together, taking his running into the mountains and learning how to hike further and faster. He now frequently competes in trail running races around British Columbia and travels all over the world in search of beautiful landscapes to backpack in. His passion for sharing his adventures through photography and writing are equal to his passion for the activities themselves.
In 2019, James thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail northbound through a record-high snowpack in 99 days.
