Silver Shadow Carbon Trekking Umbrella

6.8 oz - 193 g Trekking Umbrella

Redesigned for 2019 we have expanded the Silver Shadow into a line of umbrellas that offers a variety of options and prices.

Walking across deserts in the blazing sun or through summer rain showers shouldn't be a misery. The Silver Shadow Series provides a large reflective surface on top to deflect sunlight and a black underside to absorb wandering rays, allowing you to walk cooler and better protected.  Its coating sheds water easily, eliminating the need to wear sweaty rain gear.

  • The Silver Shadow Carbon is the crown jewel of hiking umbrellas. A sleek, carbon fiber shaft, spreader, and ribs drop the weight of this umbrella to a mere 6.8 oz while maintaining full coverage. Its rigid shaft insures that it won't unexpectedly collapse and its simple construction ensures years of trouble-free use. The simple design with minimal parts keeps it light and durable. There are simply fewer things to break or malfunction.

  • Wherever you travel, a Silver Shadow should be part of your kit!

    Essential and the best

My 20 yo GoLite umbrella broke during a wind gust recently (Jan here in CA). I am enthusiastic fan of umbrellas so I did my research. Given the drought conditions I have not had to open it during the last several weeks. Uber light. Looks strong and buff. I ruck with an umbrella about 4X per week all year. Plus I usually do 3 - 4 Sierra backcountry trips. Oh, I (or rather my dog) did use it when the temps were in the high 70s recently because she has a black coat & needs shade. Happy Trails ...Bruce

    Solid, light, dry

Pretty early on in my backpacking experiences I realized the difference between being slightly wet & completely dry was a trail umbrella over just rain gear. The silver shadow has lived up and exceeded my expectations through my first year of long distance backpacking. I primarily hike the Superior Hiking Trial up on the north shore and the overgrowth from trees and the such across the trail in areas can get significant, and I will not lie...I have truly put my umbrella through a trail by fire. Scraping branches, getting hung up on pine trees (not a problem with the size, just my own stupidity), having me slip and fall over onto the poor umbrella due to slippery rocks. After all that described above...not even a scratch on the umbrella! Looking forward to continued use of it through the next seasons!

    phenomenal piece of kit

I far prefer an umbrella to full rain gear...I use this with the gatewood cape and it is wicked light, gives me a ton of flexibility for all weather conditions, and when I get done incorporating it into my neotrekk pack/gatewood cape/silver shadow shelter I will post pics.

    Silver Shadow Carbon Trekking Umbrella

Although I've not had the chance to use this nice piece of kit, I look forward to my trip on the Florida trail in the next two weeks, where I plan to use it to the fullest possible manner. It is well made and I expect great things while under it's protection.
