About us
Six Moon Designs is a small outdoor gear company in Beaverton, Oregon. We design ultralight shelters, packs, and accessories that thru-hikers and weekend backpackers trust in real conditions, mile after mile.
We are a small, tight-knit team. Everyone wears a few hats, and the work you do shows up directly in the experience every customer has with our brand.
The role
We are hiring a Customer Service and Brand Support Associate, and this is a job for someone who actually gets out there. You will be the friendly, knowledgeable voice our community reaches when they call, email, or walk through our door, the person who helps a hiker dial in the right pack and shelter before a big trip.
This is not a behind-the-scenes role. You will talk with backpackers every day, fit packs in our showroom, write the words that carry our brand online, and represent Six Moon Designs on trail and at gatherings like PCT Days. If you love gear and love the people who use it, you will feel right at home.
What you will do
Customer support
- Answer customer questions by phone, email, and live chat, the kind only a fellow hiker can really field
- Process returns and RMAs
- Help with basic gear repairs
- Fit packs for walk-in customers and help them dial in the right setup
Brand and content
- Run our social media presence across platforms
- Write and publish newsletters and blog posts
- Coordinate with our ambassadors and brand partners
- Travel to trail shows and community events a few times a year
We are also actively working toward opening more regular store hours in our Beaverton showroom, so the in-person customer side of this role is growing.
What we are looking for
Required
- Real backpacking or other meaningful outdoor experience. You know what it is to live out of your pack and trust your gear in the field.
- Strong customer service skills with experience handling direct customer interactions
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team
- Up for both customer-facing work and hands-on, physical tasks
- Able to work full-time, in person, in Beaverton, Oregon
Strongly preferred
- Outdoor industry retail or customer service experience
- A feel for social media content creation
- Newsletter or blog writing experience
- Shopify or other e-commerce platform experience
- Roots in the ultralight backpacking or thru-hiking community
- Photography or visual content skills

- Anyone not up for hands-on or physical work
Location
This is a full-time, in-person role in Beaverton, Oregon. Remote work is not available for this position.
Compensation
Starting salary
Starting at $46,000
Commensurate with experience. Room to grow as the role develops.
