Silver Shadow Ultralight Umbrella

I hiked with this for the first time today in the unforgiving hot sun of Southern Utah. I have done this hike so had a comparator. The sun was beaming hot, no clouds. The umbrella definitely made things cooler. I was able to attach it to my backpack with some heavy duty twisty ties and it stayed pretty well. It is very light and easy to manage. We got some gusty winds and I just kind of tipped the umbrella. When it got very gusty I put it down. Overall, very easy to manage, very light weight and reduced temperature very well.

I was trying to save weight and not bring a rain jacket, even though I knew there would be rain on a 6 day backpacking trip on the PCT in the Goat Rocks (Washington). The first night it rained while setting up my tent, but I opened the umbrella to cover my backpack to keep things dry. Then a thunder/lightening storm came through. The next day as I approached Old Snowy and the Knifes Edge it began to rain and was windy pretty much the rest of the day. My shirt was soaked from the sideways rain, but the umbrella helped with the gusty wind. I was so thankful I had the umbrella.
