Serenity NetTent - 7 Ounce NetTent

Price: $120

Description

Sometimes the best solution is the simplest. The Serenity NetTent provides a simple solution to keeping those creepy crawlies and pesky mosquitoes at bay. Its small floor size lets it be setup in most any place. Unlike bivies with the mesh draped directly on your face, the Serenity's 42 inch height lets you sit up in comfort. You can sleep comfortably knowing that some mosquito won't be biting you through the mesh.

The Serenity has a large oversize door to make entry and exiting easy. No need to shimmy out of a long tube. Nor do you need to detach it from the cape when exiting.

For hikers on the Appalachian Trail who spend many nights in shelters. The Serenity is the perfect companion. Since it takes up no more space than a bivy you won't be crowding out your neighbors. Yet it's easy to hang from the roof and guaranteed to keep the mice at bay.

The Serenity is the perfect mate for the Gatewood Cape. Together they weigh a measly18 Ounces. Giving you the worlds lightest double wall tent.

On nice nights simply set it up by itself and you've got a great star gazing shelter.

Features

  • Quick Connect feature makes use with the Gatewood Cape a snap.

  • Standalone Setup for clear nights when you simply need some bug protection.
  • Ultra-light No-See-Um Netting for a lighter weight.
  • Extremely Easy Setup requires only five stakes for Standalone or none when used with the Gatewood Cape.

SHORT BUT WORKABLE
WA 10/3/2009
Bob: Setting up inside a pitched Gatewood Cape is a breeze, goes in very quick. Elastic tie-outs have just the right loops to slip thru cape's corner loops and "pin" with short twigs. 84" is plenty of length at the floor, if it was longer you'd have to worry about positioning under the Gatewood tarp. But 8" up, the netting is just 62" long on a perfectly taut pitch. The loops snapped into the Gatewood help to keep this taut, but are not spaced to increase the length at an 8-10" clearance. The loop positions are a good compromise between sitting room and lying room. Propping my Traveler pack up inside the tent above my head lifted the netting away from my head. Planned mods: none. I might experiment with a 1/8" CF hoop at the ends, if the netting on my head & toe gets to me.

NOT VERY BAD

Max: Have used this 7.5 oz. gear for some time now. Very lightweight, but at a price, since it's quite fragile allover and short inner length too. Would have accepted an oz or two more, to have the Gatewoods rear floor space integrated with the Serenity, or at least a small zipper to access that otherwise useless room in the rear of the Cape. But you can't get everything :-)

OUTSTANDING
Spreckels, California 8/8/2008
Bill: I have carried the Gatewood for over a year and love it. I have also been trying to figure out how to add a bug net that whole time. SMD did it for me with the Serenity, and adds the bonus of a bathtub floor. One hiking partner and I carried the cape/net combo for a just completed six-day Sierra hike. We used the combo one night and just the net the other four. We agreed that this is the solution for us. It sets up easy and provides everything we need for three season backpacking.

USELESS PIECE OF GEAR

WOW... GREAT PRODUCT!

Ken: I needed protection from the ants and mosquitoes in my Gatewood Cape so I was very happy to see this product become available from Gatewoods creator. I am *very* happy with it. It truly makes the Gatewood cape bug proof (for only seven ounces).. What more could you want?
