Overview

The Flex Pack is a 50 L dry bag with multiple compression straps that can be used to secure gear outside the pack – think paddles, lifejackets, ski poles, etc.

Now you don’t have to suffer through carrying a load with a pack ill-designed for the job. The Flex Pack uses the same suspension system as our Fusion line of backpacks. That means it’s designed to carry heavy loads without needing a heavy pack. Its unique oval shape and sturdy harness keep the loads closer to your center of gravity, so you don’t have to worry about a shifting pack.

Its simple roll-top design keeps your equipment nice and dry, even in the wettest conditions. It features a release valve that allows you to remove any excess air once the bag is loaded. It has four last points for attaching the bag securely to your boat.

I wanted a blue barrel type harness for canoe tripping but I wanted to be sure I could take dry bags and go way lighter when I wanted to for lighter weight trips and wet weather/winter activities. I also wanted to use Sealline duffels and possibly a Pelican Elite 20 quart cooler too if I felt like it. The Flex pack works for them all and carries very well; the frame transfers weight to the hip belt which hugs the hips nicely. Very comfy straps. Lots to snug and adjust the load with. I've tried it out with Sealline 40 and 70 litre duffels and the above mentioned cooler. The duffels don't feel as good as the SMD dry bag, the more the load sticks out the more it wags but it doesn't bother me too much and a barrel would likely be as bad, or worse in other ways in any harness. It's hard to portage really heavy, bulky stuff. The Pelican cooler really wags around a lot and the top straps don't wrap all the way around (I slung them over the top instead) but I didn't expect it to be perfect and who carries a cooler very far anyway? I'd be happy to carry it one to a few km over terrain that's not too rough and I'm happy to have the option, just as was my plan. I imagine with a light load in the dry bag (I'll try it this winter) it'll be as nice as the old Starlite Pack which I have (an ebay score that I love! I've loaded that poor thing way too heavy and had no complaints).
