⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I LOVE my Gatewood Cape

"This is perfect!! I have nothing bad to say about my Gatewood Cape. Everything has remained bone dry underneath it after several days of consistent heavy rains and winds. There is plenty of room under there for myself and my gear. It pitches very fast and easily and with just 1 pole. Pair it with a bug bivy, a regular bivy the Serenity Net tent or use it alone, depending on the season or what you like, you will not find a better shelter!" - Dirtbag Outside

REQUIRES ONE POLE

22 OZ - 624 G Solo Backpacking Tarp

The Gatewood Cape Bundle is a modular shelter system that offers a multiuse solution for those hikers looking to go as light and fast as possible without sacrificing comfort in camp.

Since its introduction in 2006, the Gatewood Cape has been carried over 100's of thousands of trail miles. It's been used to provide shelter from everything including high mountain snow-choked ridges to lush forest trails. It's the ONLY Tarp / Rain Gear that provides complete 360-degree protection.

The Gatewood Cape Bundle is an ultralight, ultra-versatile shelter system that can be worn as a poncho while also capable of being set up as a tent, a tarp, or a net tent. Highly compressible when packed, the Gatewood Cape canopy expands to cover an area of 35 ft². The Gatewood Cape Bundle includes both the Gatewood Cape and the Serenity NetTent.

*To completely repel water, shelters need to have sealer applied to the seams before use.

*Shelters including a seam sealing service may not ship immediately.

*Stakes and Support Poles Sold Separately

Design

The Gatewood Cape Bundle is a modular shelter system that offers a variety of solutions for backcountry adventurers at only 22 ounces. The cape provides full coverage both when worn as a cape or used as a shelter. The Serenity NetTent can be used with the Gatewood Cape or as a standalone shelter from the bugs on clear, starry nights.

Unlike ponchos, capes don’t have slits along the sides. While a poncho may allow for more ventilation, it does little to keep out windblown rain. The Gatewood Cape has dual zipper pulls on the front, allowing you to regulate ventilation while still providing full protection.

The pyramid-style design provides sturdy, all-around protection that keeps you warm and dry even in extreme weather conditions.

No more miserable nights in shifting winds.

Construction

With 35 square feet of coverage under the shelter's canopy, you've got plenty of room for you and your gear. Depending upon conditions, you can even adjust the vestibule to different heights to increase ventilation. A long zipper on the vestibule makes opening and closing the shelter a snap.

For the adventuresome day hiker, the Gatewood Cape makes the perfect addition to your 10 essentials survival kit. It packs down incredibly small and provides peace of mind knowing you've got excellent protection close at hand.

For added bug protection, the Gatewood Cape mates with the Serenity NetTent. Together they keep both the rain and bugs at bay. Providing you with secure and comfortable space.

Features

Micro Buckles connect the harness to cape for easy installation and removal.

"After spending several years coming up with the design. The Gatewood Cape became my primary shelter for years. My good friend Billy Goat has racked up over 10,000 miles with his Gatewood Cape and Serenity NetTent." - Ron

Good emergency shelter and poncho/cape

I got the Gatewood Cape and screen to bring on a 4 day hike. I especially like how light like it is and I like the option to use as a poncho or tent. It sets up easily. The one thing I did not like was when I set the tent up the right front section was not tight no matter how I made adjustments (the back and sides were tight). I was concerned about how this would affect staying dry if the weather was wet and windy, and the fabric whipping back and forth. I returned the product.

It's a shelter for one person, but it's also great as a tent vestibule.

Autonomy gained

Wonderful idea to transform a pancho into a tent. The tent takes up little space, is light, is easy to set up. The inner mosquito net may however touch the Gatewood Cape if the assembly is not perfect. Provide 2 more pickets to dismiss the outer fabric and avoid condensation as much as possible. Thank you for the autonomy gained with this Gatewood Cape Bundle.

Absolutely love it

Absolutely love this tent, pitching takes a bit to get right bit many heights and variation are possible! Only complaint is hope the front door flap was an o-ring instead of hook since it falls off when not in tension, and a hook \ strap within the serenity tent for lights would be perfect
