  • The Traveler was designed by the Six Moon Designs - Skunk Works over a two year period. It's concept originated from a trip Six Moon Designs founder Ron Moak took along the famed Camino de Santiago in northern Spain. This route is traveled by tens of thousands of pilgrims each year. However, most people carried packs designed more strictly for backcountry use. In addition to travel on the Camino, we traveled 10's of thousands of miles on both international and domestic flights. We wanted to ensure that the pack would work well under conditions any world traveler might likely expect.

Most importantly, The Traveler needed to comfortably carry any load people might demand. Work well in the many Alburges and Hotels people stay in along their journey. Plus it needed to be comfortable as people traveled great distances to by plane, trains and buss to the remote start of the Camino.

Key to the development of the Traveler was to make sure that it maintained it's comfort when the occasion requires one to carry heavy loads. It also needed to transition easily to a travel pack that helps one to comfortable negotiate airports.

Unlike normal backpacks, all of the important outside pockets on the Traveler are fully zippered with waterproof zippers. This provides for greater security and minimizes the loss of valuable gear.

The Front Panel opens up fully to provide access to a padded notebook/tablet pocket. Along with a number of additional pockets to hold maps, passports and other miscellaneous items. The Traveler becomes a virtual office that allows you to work anywhere in the world.

The Traveler is a panel loading pack. This provides easy access to all of your gear without having to dig through the top of the pack to locate something at the bottom. The Traveler is unique compared to traditional Panel Loaders because instead of opening from the front it open from the rear. This allows you to lay the pack flat and flip the harness out of your way. Making it easier to locate and organize your gear.

The harness layout of The Traveler has been modified to make it easier to configure for travel. The hip belt is easily removable and can be stored inside of your pack when not needed. The shoulder straps can easily be restrained to keep them out of the way. A convenient handle on the side of the pack makes carrying it through security easier.

An Amazing Bag for Travel that holds up very well in the Backcountry!

This travel bag replaced our Orpsrey Farpoint 55L, and we haven't looked back. This Bag opens like a suitcase, which is essential for long term travel (who wants to live out of a top-loader for years on the road?) Unlike our prior travel bag this bag has a more robust suspension and padded shoulder harness, which actually held up pretty well in the back country. The external pockets, zippers, and compartments make for quick access without having to open the entire bag. The internal compartment also has numerous compartments that are completely separated by a see-through mesh material. The bag is shorter and wider than my last bag and took some getting used to but the happed hip belt makes all the difference...you won't find a bag designed for long-term travel that is as comfortable as this. Also this bag performed very well in the backcountry. We spent 2 weeks hiking The Complete O Circuit in Torres del Paine, Southern Patagonia and 2 weeks hiking the Lycian Way route in Western Turkey. You can read about our adventures and see our gear at work in these two blog articles. You'll also see how we used our amazing Haven and Haven NetTent combo. SIMPLY AMAZING! https://www.ditchthemap.com/travel-blog/2019/4/8/ultimate-guide-hiking-torres-del-paine and here: https://www.ditchthemap.com/travel-blog/2019/6/15/-planning-guide-for-hiking-lycian-way-know-before-you-go

This bag has done more than just traveling !

I travel really often and the last time I used this bag it was for my wedding. I went to the Lofoten Islands in Norway. A very special wedding since we were only two with our photographer. I put the wedding dress in the TRAVELER and hung with a carabiner my suit on the bag ... and we climbed the Queen Mountain to Lofoten to make the most beautiful images at sunrise. This bag is really well designed and well made, it offers enough storage space to be always organized. But his strength is there: sobriety, incredible versatility. Once again I fall in love ALSO of your product;) What I really like is its opening style suitcase. I just put cords of color to locate the closing zips more quickly. Great product !!

    perfect for traveling abroad

I brought the Traveler on a yoga retreat & vacation in Thailand. It was great as I read beforehand that rollie suitcases were not recommended due to many stairs with no elevator access & getting in & out of taxi boats where you need to wade in the water. Boy was I glad I had this instead of my rollie suitcase! It was easy to wear, had a supportive hip belt & didn’t hurt my shoulders. I love the large pocks with waterproof zippers on the hip belt that my phone and passport conveniently fit into. When I checked the bag on the airplane I liked that the shoulder straps secured simply and I could take the hip belt off and put inside the pack. The side handle was also key for checked bags and I know not all packs have this. The only thing that I was sad about was the clip on top broke after the second leg of my four flight trip to Thailand. I told the company about this and they said that they’ve already upgraded to a new clip. Also, the hip belt seemed a little stiff and felt like it dug into my hips a bit on the edges after wearing it awhile (more so when I wore my jean shorts). I think I’d like something just a little more flexible. Otherwise, it’s a great pack. One of the reps said I could get the UL hipbelt with the traveler because it's more flexible and packs smaller when you need to stash it. I'll have to look into that. PS I also got the pack pods which I’m now obsessed with! Never owned any before and will be using no matter what suitcase/bag/pack I’ll be taking.
