The Flight 40 is one of the most configurable packs available on the market today with 63 possible setups. This allows you to customize it for whatever application you need.
NOTE: We are sold out of size Large Standard Hip Belts. In order to still offer a size Large Hip Belt for this pack, we are now offering it with a size Large Universal Hip Belt. These hip belts are our original version of the Standard Hip Belts and are constructed and function the same aside from a few differences in material. The biggest difference between them is that the Universal Standard Hip Belt (now offered) uses a soft Taffeta Material on the inside of the hip belt instead of the 3D Mesh Foam on the later version.*All closeout items and items in the bargain bin are final sale and cannot be returned.
To simplify things, we're splitting the Flight 40 into two separate webpages. The Flight 40 Backpacker and the Flight 40 FKT. The basic distinction between the two setups is that the Flight 40 FKT utilizes the Vest Yoke. While the Flight 40 Backpacker uses a more traditional standard Shoulder Yoke.
In its basic Backpacker configuration with padded shoulder straps and our standard hip belt, the Flight 40 is a real load hauler. It is capable of carrying up to 40lbs - 18kg yet only weighs 43oz - 1.2kg. If you're carrying less than 20lbs - 9kg, you can pare down the weight of the Flight 40 to 29oz - 820g.
The Flight 40 Backpacker can be ordered with your choice of eight different hip belts and three different yokes. This allows for twenty-seven different possible combinations.
The Flight 40achieves true load transfer at higher rates than comparable packs. First is our high quality multi-density hip belt. It will take a load without collapsing after many miles of use. This plastic / foam core, allows the weight evenly distributed over a large surface area of your waist without sagging.
Also unique to the Flight hip belt is its ability to articulate around your hip bone. A section of plastic is remove at each end of the hip belt to allow the articulation.
This articulation is accentuated by our unique closure. Each of our straps are independent and terminate at the buckle. This allows you to set different levels of tension between the top and bottom of the hip belt. Straps that simply loop between the top and bottom of the belt will simply reset as you walk.
A Delrin hoop stay inside the pack bag, provides enough support to enable load transfer with minimum weight. The bottom of the stay is directed back to a junction to the center of the pack. This junction provides a direct connection between the stay and the hip belt. Typically with ultralight packs, the stays and hip belt are separated by several inches of fabric. The result is that when weight is applied to the stay, the pack sags.
With the Flight 40, all of the downward force from the stay is transferred directly to the hip belt. With a rigid hip belt and stay, the load radiates out over a large surface area eliminating pressure points. The end result is a significantly more comfortable carry at heavier loads.

Great pack excellent quality
There are many words that could explain how much I love my new Flight 40, but awesome about sums it up. It is light and comfortable and will carry a decent load easily. I run a pack weight around 20lb. I look forward to doing an extended hike with it soon.
Love the comfort offered by this pack. I have been carrying 15-18lbs consistently and many times forget that it is there. My favorite feature is the hip belt. I love how you can cinch it down and the adjustability of the cinch straps along with the internal frame really help carry to the weight on the hips. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and very adjustable and the load lifters really add nice fine tuning. The only critique would be that it needs a better way to carry a water bottle. The side pockets in the pack are back to far to reach and the pocket on the strap is a little to small for a bottle. The pack is roomy and the material seems tough enough to hold up to abrasion of bushes and climbing under blowdowns. Love this pack and would recommend!
Best fastpack/trail running backpack on the market. Have now used for 1 night and 2 night trips - 15 to 25 lb loads. Fits like a glove - the straps, chest harness and awesome belt really make this part of your body. Able to compress load to prevent bouncing gear. zip pouches on belt placed well and functional. I have the 1st version, not sure if any changes have been made to the side pockets. They work fine, but I'm wondering about the longevity of the stretch material. May need a cinch. Would definitely recommend!
