Exactly what is needed and no more

I hike with Pacer Poles which have, rather than the typical hand hold, a hand shaped hand hold. This means they don’t work well as tent poles. The extra comfort is worth it for me even though it means I have to carry tent poles. This tent pole is just right for the tent, and extremely light. Just what is needed. It doesn’t allow for height adjustments but if I want to set the tent up very low because of wind or snow, I can use my Pacer Pole if I remove the top section. So carrying this little one is worth it to me.

Does what it is designed to do

Easy, lightweight pole to use when a trekking pole isn’t around/needed.

Simply functional and light

Backpacked for 3 days last weekend and used this pole instead of my trekking pole. Worked perfectedly fine and kept the tent taught even through the windy night. I did get a splinter from it so be careful with the first use. The T-bar end ensured it stayed in place even after leaned into the pole while getting out. It is so light it will become part of my regular gear.

Gatewood cape

This is a well thought out lightweight solution for a cape and shelter in one. Don’t forget the seamsealer since you either have to order the service or do it yourself. Not a big deal. The Gatewood cape delivers what it advertised. I also recommended getting a ready to use patch kit. The material is strong but can be cut on sharp edges. Also try a setup at home before first time use. The front is recognized by zthe zipper. Definitely recommend for a bifunctional shelter that also serves as a cape.
