Overview

The Flex Pack PR is designed to handle the 50L dry bag included, or the popular portage barrels. It has adjustable compression straps to help compress and stabilize any load. Dual removable side pockets are great for water bottles. Stash snacks, a rain jacket, or other gear securely in the zippered large gusseted front stash pocket.

The removable bottom stabilizer straps are perfect for packrafters using portage barrels and help ensure heavy loads ride easily. It even has an eight-inch wide stash pocket running the length of the pocket perfect for stowing a paddle.

Design

Now you don’t have to suffer through carrying a load with a pack ill-designed for the job. The Flex Pack PR uses the same suspension system we use on our lightweight packs. That means it’s designed to carry heavy loads without needing a heavy pack. It’s unique oval shape and sturdy harness keep the loads closer to your center of gravity, so you don’t have to worry about a shifting pack.

It’s simple roll top design keeps your equipment nice and dry, even in the wettest conditions. It features a release valve that allows you to remove any excess air once the bag is loaded.

With four lashing points, the Flex PF stays secure in your boat no matter how gnarly the ride.

We have a LIMITED run of Flex PR using a new ultra-durable X-Pac VX21 fabric by Dimension Polyant. It is a 3 layer 210 denier fabric that is water proof, robust, and incredibly abrasion resistant.

Versatile Backpack

I used the Flex PR to packraft up to West Ute Lake on the CDT this summer. The great suspension made the load comfortable and the paddle pocket was very handy. I enjoyed using the detaching side pockets plus the convenient stretch pocket on the back. It was great to catch cutthroat trout out in the middle of the lake!

Converted Skeptic

I was skeptical. My trusty pack was in need of replacing after 20 years of backpacking (7 of which included packrafting). The FLEX PACK PR was significantly lighter but I feared it did not have adequate comfort, volume or stability for my latest adventure: a 10-day solo packraft trip in Alaska.

With all the well thought out features and the external straps/attachment points I was able to load up all my gear (47 lbs!) comfortably. After 42 miles of hiking and 52 miles of paddling I am a true convert! It's amazingly comfortable and stable on the trail or boat. I love the elegant pack board concept; brilliant!

Great product, it's a winner.

Great design upgrades

I've been using the Flex Pack on packrafting (and backcountry ski) trips since it first came out a few years ago, and was stoked to see the new design improvements in the Flex PR.

On a recent trip to hike/packraft/raft the length of the John Day River in Oregon I got to put the new pack to the test. The new strap configurations gave me countless ways to load the pack, and I was able to find just the right way to carry a very heavy load (boat, PFD, paddle, helmet & gear all add up! Packrafting is definitely not ultralight).

The new paddle pocket on the front of the pack is probably my favorite new feature, and the expanded front zipper pocket gave me the extra room to stash items I wanted to access during the day...these pockets are invaluable.

I can see this being a go-to for any trip with large loads, awkwardly shaped items, or ski trips (there are probably 10 ways you could strap skis on), and the dry bag body of the pack simplifies keeping your gear dry too. Win win!
