This is a well thought out lightweight solution for a cape and shelter in one. Don’t forget the seamsealer since you either have to order the service or do it yourself. Not a big deal. The Gatewood cape delivers what it advertised. I also recommended getting a ready to use patch kit. The material is strong but can be cut on sharp edges. Also try a setup at home before first time use. The front is recognized by zthe zipper. Definitely recommend for a bifunctional shelter that also serves as a cape.
49" Pole
I purchased this for my tent so I could have my hiking poles available if I stayed more that a day in one place. This pole is so light it’s addition to my pack is negligible. It looks like it’s strong enough to do the job.
Admittedly, I worry about the pole’s robustness over the time that I’ll be using it. I’ve used my Lunar Solo once with this pole and it is already very slightly bent out of shape. This could be from my inexperience setting up the tent and tensioning said tent, but yeah, we will see how the pole holds up (no pun intended) over more usage. However, I do very much enjoy how lightweight it is and how easy it is to use when pitching my tent.
Get product some of the edges weren't smooth on the connectors I fixed it tho
