Since its introduction, the Lunar Duo has been consistently referred by users as The Backcountry Palace. It provides an unsurpassed space-to-weight ratio. At home on trail, walk in campgrounds or festivals the Lunar Duo is for anyone looking for livability without greatly compromising space and weight.
|Spacious||This tent is at home in a campground as much as a top a windswept ridge and large enough for four adults to sit and play a game of cards.|
|Secure||No matter how bad the weather, you can batten down the hatches for a comfortable nights sleep.|
|Ultralight||Lunar Duo offers no compromises despite the fact that it’s less than half the weight of your traditional tent.|
The Lunar Duo offers the most interior room of any tent in its class and weight range. Dual curved poles located on either side create a unique arched roof. Combined with a tent height of 45 inches and width of 54 inches leaves so much interior space you've got room to spare.
With dual oversize vestibules, each person has plenty of weatherproof storage for gear. The Lunar Duo's two vestibules can be deployed to multiple positions. When fully open, it provides maximum cross ventilation, keeping you cool and those pesky mosquitoes at bay. They can be raised or lowered, ensuring that you can achieve the optimum configuration for the weather you're likely to encounter. The Lunar Duo's vertical sidewalls prevent rain falling into the tent.
Like all our shelters it is designed to be pitched with adjustable trekking poles or with our fixed length aluminum or carbon fiber poles (sold separately).

I used this tent on a 420 mile trek this summer. The set up and breakdown was fast and easy with a little practice. The vestibule doors options provided great rain protection and cross ventilation and can be closed up tight in a strong wind. The inside is spacious so I could spread my gear out with plenty of headroom to sit up in my chair. The dual doors and screening made entry and exit a bug free breeze and the bath tub floor was easy to keep clean of debris. I will be putting plenty of miles on with this tent!
We've had this tent for 1 year 3 months and have camped about 15 nights in it. We love it. We've had it in 30F nights and with a proper sleep system, no concerns about staying warm. In 90F it's been hot but not worse than expected - ventilation is great, but the outside air is still hot. It's been in driving rain and 20 gusting to 30mph winds (do NOT face the doors toward the wind!). There's been a trace of condensation on the inside I think mostly due to cool air and our exhaling, but nothing was wet and it dried quickly in the morning. We both like that its small and you can still sit up in it. It's easy to put up, though a tiny bit challenging in windy conditions if you're setting it up by yourself - it's very light. But we've done all that and can't wait to go out with it again. Don't have any doubts about the quality or design of this tent!
I bought this incredible tent for my 2016 PCT adventure and I'm overdue writing a review. In the end, I hiked about 2000 miles of the PCT and this tent - The Backcountry Palace - was with me from day one. My first purchase from Six Moons Designs was the Skyscape Trekker, also a great tent. However, after taking it on a few trips in the Cascades, I decided it was worth carrying a little extra weight to to have a bigger tent, for general comfort and extra space during bad weather. It was worth it! It withstood crazy rain and wind without struggle, and it's big enough to sleep comfortably and have all you gear inside the tent. I only met one other hiker with the same tent, we laughed about how much we loved it and couldn't understand why there weren't more on the trail. The only negative is that, when windy, the tent can flap loudly. However, that didn't bother me. Just buy it. It's awesome.
I have taken this on a few outings since I have purchased it and my wife and I love it. We took it last summer to Grayson Highlands, VA and camped in a severe hail storm and we stayed nothing but dry. Last weekend I went to Linville Gorge, NC where it weathered 30 mph wind gusts without faltering. It is the perfect size for my Me , my wife and our 50 lb dog. Hope this review helps people in their decision to purchase.
Bought 4 months ago for 270 UK pounds. I got the slightly more expensive version with the lighter weight material but I didn't pay extra for seam-sealing (this can be done yourself - see YouTube). Instead of paying for carbon poles I bought 8 mm aluminium ones + shock-cord and fashioned them to the appropriate 45" lengths for about 12 pounds. Easy. Robust, tho I use a tarp to protect the floor. When windy is a bit fiddly inserting the curved poles into the roof-ends. When you peg out the tent from the pole tops to the ground you need to make this a steep angle otherwise the vestibule flaps will not zip around the guy lines - it's the only thing I can think of which would worry me in strong winds - this steep angle doesn't really lend itself to making the strongest geometry for the guy lines. Enough for two 6-ft+ people + packs, esp if you peg the head/foot tie-outs. May have to search that little bit more for a suitable pitching spot because of the large footprint. Thin material/colour lets light through - perhaps bad if you want a lazy morning in your sleeping bag. Great to have 2 entrances. About 1 kg excluding pegs and poles. Stuff sack is strong and only weighs a few grams - careful when it is breezy, it can easily blow away. Single skin and does suffer from some condensation in my experience. I shopped around a LOT before purchase and couldn't find another tent that offered a better weight-to-space ratio for near the same cash. Nearly 5/5 stars!
