When we set out to design the Daybreaker we wanted a daypack that could be used for a day hike but was also versatile enough to be used for traveling, days around town, peak bagging in the mountains, or hut to hut trips.
The Daybreaker is Six Moon Designs take on a clean, simple day pack. We set out to create a pack that was traditional in design but also features more modern, lightweight materials.
The Daybreaker daypack is the result of years of traveling, backpacking, and outdoor adventures. We took the time to think of what we liked and did not like out of the day packs we had been using. The side pockets are a great example of this. They are deep enough to keep your water bottle from falling out when putting your pack in an overhead bin and angled just the right way so you can still reach your bottle while hiking. Hate losing your keys? We do too. That's why we put glove hooks in both zippered pockets. Everything is wet and you need to rest? Just pull out the removable sit-pad and kickback. We just really enjoy this pack and think you will too.

My second SMD backpack (OG Swift!) and 4th SMD product, this bag exceeding a high expectations set by those. It's a bit big for just a quick hike, but the lazy dog doesn't carry his water so I'm usually loaded up. This bag would carry a sub10lb weekend load ok - but I bought it for my day hike habit. In this use I don't mind a little extra weight for a lot extra usability. Pockets and straps and such are well-done, all things you need, little of what you don't. The quality & details like the 3D lid elevate this from a cottage-gear bag to "is that from a retail store?" still at the cottage-gear weight, and deep pockets for the dual 1L bottles, sit pad etc. I don't LOVE shoulder pockets, and these aren't removable. But they hold a phone or dog cookies well so I'll adjust I'm a really picky shopper and keep coming back to this company for the same reasons. We balance a lot of variables (cost, weight, ... ) and they get them right
This daybreaker bag was excellent. I went on a 3 day backpacking trip and lemme tell you this back held up greatly. I’m a 5’6” skinny male and i packed this thing to the brim with equipment. It felt comfortable at all times. I felt like a badass wearing this too, it has like a tactical look that i love. But overall great bag
This is a very comforable no-frills pack. I love the size and elasticity of the large outer pocket. Great for the quick access things you might need on a hike - rain shell, map, a tuckered out pomeranian. I highly recommend the pack
Two things hit me when I first used this pack: it is roomy and it is incredibly light for day back! I broke in the pack during a trip to the Rockies--I used it on the plane as my carry-on, and then out on the trails for day hikes. I loved how easily it expands and contracts to fit my use. I liked how it kept the weight off my shoulders. I like the secret key/card pocket. The top pocket was roomy enough for a large map, and anything else I needed quick access to. Loved having super easy access to my phone for pics in the shoulder pockets. Great pack--looking forward to having it for my future adventures.
Well made. Just the right size for a day (or 3) out on my local trails.
